Women and Gender Collections Archivist Morna Gerrard has been collaborating with subject librarians Mandy Swygart-Hobaugh (Sociology) and Jill Anderson (History/Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies/African-American Studies) since 2010.

Some of the collaboration entails teaching instructional classes together. Other conspiring is focused on the creation of “big picture” research guides that can serve as a front door to everything available in the library about certain subjects. Our first guide, focusing on LGBTQIQA resources, went live in 2013. Within a year, it was recognized by the professional publication American Libraries as a “particularly comprehensive guide” for outreach to LGBTQIQA patrons. Not only does the guide provide information about books, periodicals, audio/visual materials and primary sources at GSU, it also provides information about organizations on and off-campus that students can reach out to for support or to support.
