Mission Statement
The Anxiety Research and Treatment Lab conducts research on the causes, effects, and novel treatment of anxiety disorders. In this pursuit, we seek to understand individual and cultural diversity and the interplay between contextual factors and intersecting identities among all people. We aim to promote justice and equity in the work we do with the following actions:
- Intentional, ongoing training to facilitate cultural competence and cultural humility in research.
- Recruiting diverse populations that are representative of our community for our research.
- Being culturally responsive in designing studies and in analyzing and interpreting data.
- Sharing resources that support the mental health, self-care, and self-determination of marginalized communities.
- Providing mentorship and training opportunities for students from underrepresented backgrounds to prepare for advanced education and leadership in Psychology and related fields.
We will do our part to facilitate a culture of clinical psychological research that is proactive and accountable in the pursuit of our shared liberation.
