What We Do
Journalism is about finding things out and telling people about them. It’s about telling great stories. The ability to write well is fundamental, and writing for journalism is unique in its own quirky, wonderful ways. In college, transitions among writing styles can be tough. The Journalism Writing Center is here to help.
We offer writing development through one-on-one consultations, tutorials and drop-in sessions. We strive to help you master this style. Journalists want their stories to be clear, accurate and concise. We want to inform our readers, engage them, amuse them– and maybe even shock them. It may look simple, but it is difficult to write simply and engagingly. It is hard to keep our readers reading and to make complex information understandable and meaningful in many different formats. This is the task of today’s media professional.
