Who are we?

Geosciences Raising Opportunities for Women is a student-led professional organization within the Department of Geosciences at Georgia State University. We are committed to elevating the participation and retention of those who identify as women in earth sciences. GROW was established in 2021 with the goal of empowering women in the geosciences through the promotion of education, leadership, outreach, and community in order to advance equity and representation.

What do we do?

In pursuit of GROW’s above goals, we organize a number of engaging and informative opportunities for our members. Among these are discussions, workshops, and speakers that provide insight into areas such as networking, skill-building, and finding and applying for scholarships. In addition to these helpful career-related meetings, we also invite our members to partake in fun activities like hikes, movie nights, and our upcoming book club! In the future, we hope to facilitate volunteering events in and around Atlanta in association with non-profits and festivals. This array of options is designed with the intention of widening the scope of knowledge and connectivity within the geosciences.
