It is my great pleasure to announce that Dr. Hong Du has been selected as the recipient of the Bill Bompart Teaching Excellence award. Dr. Du is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Georgia State University-Perimeter College. She has been at GSU-Perimeter College since 2017. Before arriving to GSU, Dr. Du held teaching positions at various other institutions in the United States since 2003. Dr. Du completed her Ph.D. in Mathematics from University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. She also holds MS in Statistics from Marquette University and AS in Management Engineering from Beijing Jiaotong University in China.
The committee was really impressed at Dr. Du’s teaching profile. Her major accomplishments includes teaching at various levels of mathematics courses, incorporating technology in her course delivery, developing Master Online Course for Statistics course, showing excellence in teaching in both online and face-to-face medium, to list a few. Dr. Du have published and presented papers on Mathematics Teaching and Learning on various regional, national, and international conferences. Dr. Du’s dedication and commitment in mathematics teaching was recognized by various awards and grants through her career. Dr. Du’s colleagues and her students spoke highly about her caring for teaching, students, and eagerness to find new ways to help students learn.
