Short Prep – High Impact Activities

Promote Students’ Global Awareness
and Engage Students in Global Learning Experiences

List of Activities

  1. ENGAGE
    • students in a one week long or one-day service learning virtual exchange activity.

  2. compare
    • a political event or tradition in the United States to one in another country(ies). For example, students watch the Prime Minister’s Question time online, choose a question that the PM is asked, report the answer, research quotes by the U.S. president on the same policy topic and reflect on the similarities or differences in policy questions between the countries, on the idea of a state leader facing the national legislative body for questions weekly and discuss how that would go in the U.S.

  3. attend
      • an intercultural event in your area so that students can get acquainted with another culture. For example, students could attend an event like JapanFest,  which takes place in Atlanta, Georgia every September. This event is the largest cultural festival in the Southeast, with over 20,000 attendees over two days. The number of exhibits and performances on Japanese culture, both traditional and modern, is amazing.

  4. view
    • “Power of Place” – view and discuss films and video clips featuring and/or depicting global issues and political geography
