The D.A.M.N Team

August Butler (known colloquially as Gus) is a writer, musician, autist, and activist with a love of microwave popcorn and historical feminist literature. They’re the editor and a primary journalist for D.A.M.N (and the namer of D.A.M.N, one of their proudest creative achievements to date), contributing articles that veer toward the side of excessively opinionated, but never without heart. They’re an English major at Perimeter college and plan to work professionally in editing or journalism, so they better do a good job with this thing, or they’re basically screwed. They’ve written, recorded, and produced two albums, and maintain a solid presence on a very cheesy YouTube channel on which they pAugust Butler with blue eyeshadow, a dark sweater, and half-up brown hair. They also enjoy scrapbooking, live music, and anything cherry flavored, and they’re beginning to realize that this sounds a bit like a Tinder profile, and are slightly embarrassed. August is the person to reach out to with any questions, comments, or concerns about D.A.M.N, so feel free to drop a comment and they’ll get back to you as speedily as they can.

He has a keen eye and passion for design, especially anything skull and bone, making him the perfect co-designer for D.A.M.N. He also enjoys literary art, and feels most engaged academically when writing, as he finds communicating through writing easy and fulfilling. He’s always been concerned with disabled rights and activism, but believed he was too distanced from the subject to make real change, as outsiders may not associate him with the community. But after he realized the erasure of his identity, he got serious about showing up for those who are unseen. He enjoys creative work, slasher films, and his many trinkets.

Linderiya Sims’ role for the DAMN magazine is to construct the website while making it accessible to all. As her major leans towards journalism, she writes articles educating the minds of the ignorant to be showcased on the website. Her mission is to to be a voice for those who’ve been silenced on a platform that can reach all. Her other passions are writing books, watching movies, and playing flag football. One of her favorite books is one she wrote titled My Heart’s Desire. Her favorite movie will always be Coraline, but if she had to choose a new movie that has caught her attention it would be the movie Nowhere. Writing books gives her the chance to show the world her endless imagination, watching movies makes her descriptions vivid, and being Linderiya Sims in a selfie with the sky as a backdrop, with pink hair and black clothing.on the field gives her that rush of adrenaline she needs so badly. Though not entirely set on the vision, she loves the idea of making a clothing brand and with a little help from a friend she can imagine it taking off. Hundreds of people wearing her clothes, reading her books and watching her play just excites her inner child bringing her excitement to life.
