Last week we looked at 3 out of 9 of the active project groups in Dr. C’s Perspective on Disabilities Spring 2024 class. This week we will be looking at 2 more groups The Film Group and Afghan American Alliance of GA Group.

First we have the Film Group.
Before we start the name Madona and Brianna will be mentioned it is imperative to know that they are also members of this group. That being said according to another member of the group by the name of Edwin, the group’s plan is to create a documentary focusing on a Madona’s brother, that has autism. They are going to be filming a day in the life of her brother as he faces different challenges in his day to day life. With that they are also interviewing individuals on their views towards people with disabilities. So far, they have filmed some portions of the day of the life, as well as conducted some interviews with one of Brianna’s coworkers.
As of right now it is said they haven’t had any setbacks so we can see that they are on the path to success and I can’t wait to see how they put this film together in the end.

Second we have the Afghan American Alliance of GA.
According to a member of the group by the name of Glae, last Thursday they had a meeting with the Afghan American Alliance of Georgia, also known as AAAG. The group got to introduce themselves and learn a little about what the AAAG does as an organization, what they, as in the AAAG project group, would like to do and/or help with, and what is suggested from the AAAG that they as a project group help with. They learned that the AAAG helps their clients with finding employment, resources, making a resume, enrolling in ESL programs, school enrollment, and applying for public services. According to AAAG in their community, the topic of disability is not something people are educated about, so they suggested that the project group make a document on resources available for people with disability and help educate people with disabilities about these resources. From this the groups focus is going to be on children of all age groups with disability and how they can get them enrolled in school, healthcare, and public services. At the moment they are working on researching for the document they are trying to create as well as trying to set up another meeting with the AAAG organization in an effort to learn how they can meet with the case manager of families and families in need of help they are trying to provide.
Again wee see another group already in the field making progress towards their group group goals.

Like I said in the last post we can see there’s a lot of different things going on in Dr. C’s Perspectives class this year. The count for groups is now up to 5 out of the 9 active groups which mean I myself am making progress toward my goals in own project. That being said I can’t wait to see and tell you all about the progress of the remaining 5 groups.
