In June 2023, Dr. Armstrong-Mensah led a group of 17 undergraduate and graduate GSU SPH and Anthropology students to Ghana to study abroad for three weeks in Accra and Kumasi. The program gave students the opportunity to learn first-hand about three global public health issues in Ghana (water and sanitation, HIV, and women’s health). While in Ghana, the students participated in lectures, site visits, field trips, and excursions to places of social and historical significance. As part of course activities, students collected and analyzed data from the field, did a comparative analysis of what pertains in Ghana and the United States, and came up with culturally sensitive strategies for addressing the issues in Ghana.
