Gabriella Ferrans, “Underneath My Kitchen Sink”

June, Summer 2024

18”x24”, Charcoal pencil on paper

My kitchen sink cabinet is full and organized, set against the looping and curving pipes. The varying line design shows different textures for objects under the sink, everything needed for the weekly cleaning. The contour lines bring focus to the shapes of the drawing, and the beauty of simplicity. The first image is the final piece, with the image directly under showing my initial practice sketch of the project. The gallery shows drawings that helped me achieve my final piece, through practice of contour line and patience in scenes like my bedroom, the classroom, or even my own hands.

Rough, initial sketch of underneath a kitchen sink.
