Caught with a Trace

Multiple outlets report that John Ramsey was the one that discovered Jonbenet’s body in the basement after her murder and was responsible for tampering with evidence present on the body. Business Insider reports that, John Bennett Ramsey found his daughter’s dead body in the basement wine cellar, and carried her upstairs. He removed the tape from her mouth, and covered her in a blanket, which could have destroyed important evidence.” ( Business Insider, Who Killed JonBenet). The piece of evidence that does pertain to this case and helps prove that Patsy Ramsey was a part of this crime is the duct tape that was removed from JonBenet’s lips. PBWorks reports that “There is also a visible weave pattern and fibers of the tan/light brown cotton cloth transferred to the tape” (PBWorks, JonBenet Ramsey). The fibers that can be seen on the tape that was applied to JonBenet’s face would be directly related to the person who applied the tape and show who may have been responsible. In relation to the fibers found on JonBenet’s body Biography writes that, “fiber found on the duct tape used to bind the child was consistent with that found on Patsy’s clothing” (Biography, JonBenet Ramsey). This proves that Patsy Ramsey had to have touched the tape sometime during the crime.  Her husband was the one who retrieved the body and removed the tape from her mouth which eliminates the possibility of her transferring fibers after the body was found and shows that Patsy must have been a part of the murder.
