Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Future Students
Our group welcomes new students to join us. Several types of opportunities may be available. In any case, the initial step is to understand what our research is about followed by contacting Dr. Yang to discuss the suitability and availability.
Doctoral Students
If you feel interested in pursuing a PhD degree with us, you should contact Dr. Yang first and discuss the availability of the position as the funding is limited. This should occur before you start the standard application for Graduate Admissions to the Department of Kinesiology and Health at GSU. A PhD degree, involving coursework, comprehensive exam, and dissertation project, typically takes about 4-5 years. So it is important for you to be certain that you would devote efforts/time to your PhD study. Your undergraduate or graduate degree should be in either an engineering, rehabilitation, or related disciplines (Biomedical or Biomechanical Engineering, Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, Physical Therapy, or Occupational Therapy). If you do not have an engineering background, you should have a good body of knowledge in: statics, dynamics, rehabilitation, and computer programming.
Master’s Students (Thesis Track)
If you are interested in joining the group as an MS student, you should speak with Dr. Yang as early as possible about a project. An MS degree typically takes 2 years and includes the completion of a thesis in the lab (besides the required course work).
Undergraduate Students (Research Assistant or Research Fellow)
The laboratory typically has about 2 undergraduate students work half- to full-time in the laboratory as either a research assistant or a research fellow (taking course KH 4800) on research projects. This is a great opportunity to gain some research experience, learn some new skills, and decide whether graduate school or health profession fits you.
