Asha Degree’s mysterious disappearance tends to puzzle all who stumble upon the details in her case. As it stands Asha Degree was a bright young girl who was the star of her basketball team and an honor student at school. She lived in a small community outside of Shelby, North Carolina which is known for being tight knit since everyone tends to look out for one another. But on the night of February 13, 2000 everything changed. ABC News reports that on that night and around 2:30 am after her father watched some television he heads to bed only to check to see that Asha was still in her bedroom. In the morning, Asha’s mother came to her room to find that she wasn’t in her room. Frantically, the family searched the house for their missing daughter to no avail. They called the police and declared her missing. Eyewitnesses claim that they saw a girl fitting Asha’s description with white long sleeve shirt and white pants. Another stated that she ran into the woods never to be seen again (ABC News). Was Asha Degree running away or was she abducted? I will prove that the evidence and logic points to the fact that Asha was later abducted by a child predator as opposed to her running away from home.
