July 2024
Four drawings done with black ink and a crow quill pen. The other two done with vine charcoal, compressed charcoal, and conte crayon.
The goal of the assignment above was to explore different methods of mark making and mediums. We were tasked with drawing bell peppers in different styles and using different mark making techniques such as hatching, cross-hatching, stippling, washing with ink, and a combination of all four. The drawing of the skull and the self-portrait were exploration with conte crayon. I used vine charcoal as the primary medium and added black and sepia-colored conte crayon on the dark areas and white conte crayon on the brightest highlights of the pieces.
