Charcoal pencil on drawing paper.
This drawing was made using the additive technique with charcoal pencil. I had to make a “Recycled Being” out of trash and recycled objects from my household. I chose to make a character and her baby that tell a story about motherhood out of a lemonade bottle, felt, yarn, bottle caps, and the baby out of a ping pong ball and Q-tips. The additive charcoal technique focused on building the subject from a blank paper with charcoal pencil, slowly going over light layers now charcoal to make them darker and create value, shading, and highlights.
