Vine charcoal and compressed charcoal on mixed media paper.
These two pieces were with a reductive technique; charcoal was rubbed across the span of the paper, and forms were carved out of the charcoal rub using kneaded eraser, sponges, and paper towels. The goal was to find shape and accentuate values between shadows and highlighted areas from an all-gray canvas.
