Dr. Rafaela (Haffa-ella) G. Feresin completed her undergraduate studies in Nutrition and her Dietetic Internship at the Federal University of Goiás in Brazil, her home country. She worked as a Sports Dietitian Nutritionist for four years prior to moving to the US to pursue her graduate studies. Dr. Feresin earned both of her graduate degrees, M.S. and Ph.D., from Florida State University (FSU) under Dr. Bahram H. Arjmandi’s mentorship. She also completed her postdoctoral training in Vascular Biology at FSU under Dr. Gloria Salazar’s mentorship. In 2015, Dr. Feresin joined the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences as an Assistant Professor. In 2017, Dr. Feresin moved her research program to Georgia State University. where she is an Associate Professor of Nutrition and Director of the Ph.D. program in Chemistry with concentration in Nutritional Sciences. Dr. Feresin is an Associate Faculty of the Neuroscientist Institute and a Core Member at the Center of Neuroinflammation and Cardiovascular Diseases. She also has a joint appointment in Biology and Chemistry.
