My Space

I work at White Windmill Bakery, a Korean café bakery, and I can call this place my second home. I see people walk in as I stand behind the register waiting to take their order. Regulars and newcomers alike are greeted at the entrance and register with a warm welcome. As you enter, you smell aroma of coffee and the dozens and dozens of bread that are created each day. They come in with a groggy face. But I get excited and tingly because I’m about to make a drink that’ll change their day. Once they’ve sipped on their much needed coffee; they brighten with smiles. And seeing that change in facial expression, is what I look forward to seeing everyday that I work because it puts a smile on my face as well. Sitting on the rustic tables and chairs, they devour bread that is made daily just for them. The sound of the espresso machine and milk steaming, along with the soft chatter, fills the café with a cheerful atmosphere. The customers as well as I see the place as a haven to replenish thirst and hunger. And as each person leaves, they’re left with nothing but satisfaction and a good-bye.

My Space

As you turn the doorknob, you will hear the jingle of the blue bells that I had attached.

The moment you walk in, you can feel the warmth of the sun lighting up the room and catch the faint whiff of perfume that smells of daisies.

Gaze your attention to where the rays are shining. Oh, how peaceful it looks.

They tell me it’s cursed. Once you lay on it, you wake up centuries later without a moment’s notice. But how can you resist? You won’t be able to stop yourself from going under the covers of the fresh, pink, fluffy blankets or be able to keep your arms and legs from wrapping around the cool, long, memory foam body pillow.

“Your room is so cozy”, they’d always tell me while they sneak into my bed and wrap themselves in my blankets and burrow into the heap of pillows.

“Eunice, can you sleep in my room tonight?” I’d let them so that they may be able to experience that dreamy moment when they wake up to the sun hugging their legs while the songs of the bird’s melody act as an alarm.

“Scooch over, Eunice,” they say as they attempt to make room for themselves in my one person seat. It’s irresistible to ignore what I’m doing: I’m snuggled in my chair with my legs and feet pressed to my chest, holding a cup of tea to my lips as I watch my favorite TV shows.

It is not a utopia, it is simply my room.

My space – basketball court at GSU

It’s been a long tiring day of school, and I feel as if I am about to pass out. However, I am going to go to my favorite place in the world. The space is occupied by nearly a hundred basketball players waiting or already playing on the courts. A sweaty aroma surrounds the air, but I am used to it. There are four basketball courts and eight goals, so that everyone gets to play. The gym is enormous and can probably fit a football field in it. I scan the area and see that some people that are waiting, and I ask if they can  pick me up for the next game, and they say yes. This is a daily task that I have to do just to play, because there are just so many people in this packed gym. It feels like home though, because everyone in the gym love the same thing. It is basketball. I wait about ten minutes, and it is finally my turn to play. Immediately after I got on the court, I felt all my stress leave my body and disappear. It is my escape from reality, and I love it.

My Space

As I pull the door open to enter my space a blast of cold air hits my face. The smell of thin plastics hit my nostrils as I look upon the unopened games. The walls are filled with posters and advertisements for upcoming games. The floors are lined with flat red carpet making it comfortable to get low to search for more things. The dimness of the lights and lack of sunlight makes me feel at home. The lack of customers makes me feel at home and calm. I walk around staring at everything and touching everything that isn’t locked up behind glass.  The one employee converses with me about the games in the store and which ones he wants to play. As I exit my space the sun hits me and I feel empty having left with nothing.

Target

I work in one of Target’s branches located in Norcross. Target corporation is one of the biggest retailers in the United States. Looking for clothes , accessories , beauty regimens etc, Target is the best best place to go. In addition, residents in Norcross like to shop at Target because of its affordable and very welcoming customer services.

This Target branch is very close to my house; it usually takes me 17 minutes by foot and 5 minutes by car to get there. This is one of the reasons i like to work at this target. Items at Target are all the time very neatly arranged and well organized, this my second reason why i like working at there. Most of the decorations in target are most often in red. Expect to see new trends and items each time you visit. Furthermore, It has over 100 workers within the Norcross branch. Employees comes from diverse and different ethnic backgrounds. My Space

Whenever I twist my rather cool brass doorknob, I soon enter into what I call my heaven. I immediately plop on my bed and wrap myself tight in my cozy, warm, pink blanket.  As I sit in my bed wrapped tight in my cozy, pink blanket, I gaze around my room and notice all of the things that are there. Looking to my left, my salmon-pink wall is covered by a large, silver floor length mirror. Beside my mirror is a pink and white clock that ticks and tocks throughout the day and night. In front of my bed, there is a dresser that holds all of my girly things. My dressers holds many perfumes, lotions, facial masks, and moisturizers. On the same wall beside my dresser there is a large, rectangular shaped window with sparkly pink curtains.  The wall in front of me is full of thousands of memories. My photos, painted pictures, certificates, tickets, photos of me ,and my friends and family. The wall looks as if someone has taken my brain, thrown it in a blender and splashed it on the wall. The wall contains the bits and pieces of my entire life. Near my memories there hangs my shiny silver TV. Every part of my room is what makes me. My imagination, my sanity, my love, my peace ,and all my hopes and dreams are all inside of my room.

Starbucks

Starbucks’s “space” is consumer friendly. When they ask for your name, they write it on the cup and show some intimacy with the customer so that the customer feels safe. The free wifi and a place to sit is that you can stay around and enjoy yourself while drinking their coffee. The occupants are from all ethnics and cultures which show that Starbucks is very diverse and free of prejudice. The table with the with all the condiments like milk, creme, and sugar is for you when you think that your drink is missing something or needs more, it’s provided on the table. The locations are also highly convenient. They are located nearly everywhere you drive, some are found near and in malls, shopping districts, and there is also one at Aderhold at Georgia State if you would also like some coffee. The glass walls lets you see inside of Starbucks, to see the quality of the workers working, the customers inside, the cleanliness, and the overall experience you can receive.

My Space

I am in 633B at Piedmont Central. The room is decorated with posters, hanging lights, and extra furniture, which makes my friend’s dorm room the perfect place for my friends and I to study together. Some students are aggressively studying on their computers on top of the beds; other students are talking on the floor about random things from double sided posters to the GSU aquarium night. Even though it was almost 2 am, all of the bedroom’s lights were on and the bedroom was surrounded by half- eaten food and open bags of chips. There are noises coming from the microwave as someone is heating up popcorn and noises from the water boiler because everyone is sharing the spicy “fire” ramen to eat. Because the room is so small, the smells from all of the different food like the barbecue chips or the macaroni and cheese fills up the entire room. Laughter also spreads across the room as we all share funny posts or videos from Facebook, Reddit, or YouTube. Some of us don’t have homework to do so they decide to help other students study. When we all decide to take a break, we learn new things about each other and relax.

Lifetime Fitness

As the doors automatically slide open, you can already feel the adrenaline rushing inside of you as you enter the big, wide, open space. The interior is brightly lit, not because of the overbearing number of lights, like they have at Walmart, but because of the massive windows that allow the natural sunlight to beam straight through. When you make your way to the second floor, there are multitudes of exercising equipment that you can choose from, so you do not feel limited. Additionally, the air is cool all around, which makes you actually feel good about sweating. However, if you still feel unclean, there is nothing to worry about because there are also showers available to use in the locker rooms. But even before that, you have the option to go swimming outdoors and indoors, or you can just sit inside of the sauna and relax to your heart’s content. If there is any place that makes you feel a life of luxury, it is here. The options are endless at Lifetime.

My Space- Neiman Marcus

The smells of various perfumes filled the air as I walked down a path of insanely clean tiles. A smile awaited each corner followed by a soft “Hello” or “May I help you?”. Customers found their own path, each carefully looking to ensure that they found the right product . It was as if I entered an entire world of my own. Mirrors that engulfed entire walls presented the glorious reflection that was “Neiman Marcus”.
