The Occupants in Orange Coffee

Orange Coffee

As they enter, customers are immediately overwhelmed by the sweet aroma of coffee. Usually, they are not alone. They come in groups of three, sometimes six, despite the limited space there is. The occupants who come to this coffee shop do not rush out the door after receiving their drinks. Instead, they search the room for empty seat, because this is not a grab and go place. This is a place to talk and relax over a fancy decorated coffee. As they sit in their groups, you will recognize the similarity they all share in an instant. Not just in one particular group, but in most groups; they are in the same ethnicity: Korean. The reasoning behind this is pointed towards the staff, including the owner. They are all Korean. For the customers, it is more comfortable for them to communicate with the staff in the language they know best. In addition, the menu is filled with drinks and desserts they are familiar with, such as shaved ice topped with red beans–a traditional korean dessert. The small space allows the customers to be closer together and therefore, they do not have to yell over each other even with the other occupants in the room.

The writer did a good job identifying who the occupants are: Korean people go to coffee shop to relax because the business is aimed for Korean customers. I identify with how the occupants go into the shop to socialize with their friends because I have been to many coffee shops like Mozart Bakery, Cafe Bene, and Sweet Hut where their atmosphere does the same thing.
