Fun Fact

I built my own computer!

Case: FRACTAL MESHIFY C TEMPERED GLASS
Motherboard: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX ATX
CPU: AMD AMD RYZEN 5 3600X WRAITHS
GPU: MSI GTX1660 SUPER VENTUS XSOC
HDD: SEAGATE 2TB BARRACUDA 3.5″ HD
SSD: SAMSUNG E 500GB 970EVO+NVME M.2 SSD
RAM: CORSAIR 16GB 2X8 D4 3200 C16 VL
Power: CORSAIR CXM 650W 80+B SM PSU

The day I bought all of the components, I went home and with a little help from my friends and a lot of help from Google and YouTube, I built my first PC! I didn’t have to break the bank to build a pretty decent setup, either, but it depends what your budget is. I do plan to upgrade certain components as time goes on – I plan on replacing all of the (basic) cooling fans and replacing them with fun LED fans; I’ve toyed with the idea of a water-cooling system (instead of the standard air-cooling) but honestly? I’m scared to futz with WATER (and oil) near my beautiful tower. I plan on eventually upgrading the GPU [Graphics Processing Unit] and CPU [Central Processing Unit] but they’re powerful enough for the rig I have.

The dream is a custom desk with built-in housing for the tower, built-in housing + charging for headset/mouse/keyboard, and a built-in monitor platform that raises the monitors from inside/behind the desk when I turn it on… Ok, at least have the monitors mounted above the desk to keep the surface completely clean. But that’s the dream!

I’ve always played on consoles and have never really had a good computer. The older I’ve gotten, the more I’ve noticed the majority of my closest guy friends have custom built PCs –  so naturally, I bounced ideas off of them for a while before buying anything. I’m the only girl in my friend group with a custom, personally built, PC – and I love it. I do always preface playing new games with a little “Ok, I’m a console gamer, so I’m new to mouse and keyboard” which usually gets at least one chuckle and a “No worries! You’ll pick it up in no time.” I’ve had the computer for *checks watch* four months and I still find myself checking the keyboard to make sure I know what keys I’m pressing.

Sidebar: I type relatively fast – about 80-90 WPM.

As of the end of November 2020, my fiancée (soon to be wife! 101 days!) also has a gaming PC! Although she bought hers already built…
