These past two weeks I have learned more about the importance of research and community outreach letters to organizations. Through this research, I have started to learn a significant amount of what it takes to get an organization up and running, as well as how to make events successful. It is hard work, but in the end, it is rewarding to see how that work is used in a bigger effort to increase community writing ties. I also am slowly starting to learn more about community outreach, and how significant that is in developing these events. It is needed to allow people the knowledge of knowing about specific events as well as getting to know other people within the writing community. I suspect I will learn more about this in my future work, but it is something that is needed to make successful events.
For upcoming work, I am researching different high schools and colleges throughout Atlanta for their different English departments and programs. I am excited for this, and think it will help me learn about creative opportunities that I might not have considered before. The research involved with these tasks will be helpful in allowing me to learn more about community outreach and gain a more intimate knowledge of the different writing programs throughout schools. This knowledge and research are not only beneficial to me but also to the Lostintheletters organization, as it is a good way to get more people involved that may not have had any previous knowledge of them. I also think I will learn a lot more about spreadsheets and the importance of them when crafting events. I have some knowledge on how to make them and understand them, but I do not have to create them often, so I think it will be a fun experience for me when researching tasks.
Overall, I am really excited about the upcoming events and research for Lostintheletters! I feel as though I have already learned a lot more about creative writing and its value within a community. My upcoming tasks will certainly help me learn a lot more about the writing and English community within Atlanta. I can tell it has helped me grow as a student and writer, and I believe I will continue to grow in both areas as the internship moves along. It has been a great internship experience so far, and I’m excited to learn more.
