Who knew that transferring website materials from folder to folder could actually be kinda fun? I don’t know; I guess I find joy in doing a task that seems so redundant but actually has importance.
The task itself is pretty simple, I just have to download forms that were used in the last fiscal cycle and transfer them to the folders of each park. The forms and documents are mostly grant applications and budget forms that aren’t necessarily used anymore but are helpful to have for when parks apply in future cycles. It seems very easy, and it is, but it can be pretty time-consuming to make sure all the files are downloaded and in their respective folders. However, this process has shown me the importance of doing seemingly meaningless tasks like this. If there was no one to do this, the important documents of last fiscal year would just be gone!
It seems silly, but this task made me think about the importance of archiving and preserving things that may not seem important at the time but will almost certainly have some purpose later on. I feel as though the work I’m doing is helping me learn how to prioritize my workflow and gives me a perspective on what my actual work duties will be like in the future.
I have a meeting with my supervisors and other members of Park Pride to talk about my next project within the next few days. I’m excited to start working on the toolkit for the Friends of the Parks and hope to learn even more about how Parks get their funding and the process of putting the funding to use!
