For this project I got to explore different ways and methods for working with ink, mars black, Ivory black, and Sumi ink. I was excited to do this project because I have worked with pen and ink before and I find it to be very comforting and relaxing when one gets the hang of it. To start the project one lays down on two poster boards and allows another person to trace out ones body. When They were done tracing me I got inspired by the way they traced my hair. It reminded me of water and wind, and from here I envisioned what I wanted my piece to represent. I started experimenting with each material to build marks, shapes, and textures. With the ink I incorporated hatching, cross hatching and stippling. When I started the piece I decided to incorporate water and nature because it defines me and my love for the outdoors. This was why far my favorite project because I enjoyed working with the different materials and being about to manipulate them with the use of water. Will be creating more pen and ink drawings in the near future.
