For this project we were instructed to make 6 canvas painting from still life objects that represented our life. For my objects I decided to do a candle stick/candle (representing life and journey), a sewing spool (representing my love for sewing and crafting, and finally a small pot out of wood (representing my grandfather, Roy Hornsby, that he gave me when he came back from Honduras years before he past away in 2007). For the first painting I had to create an monochromatic pallet of paint. I decided to do shades, tints, and tones of burnt sienna. For the second painting I had to paint the complementary colors of what I saw. For this one I decided to stick with blue, green, and purple. For the third painting we have to do the same concept as the second, I chose to do orange and blue with a hint of purple. For the next canvas we had to incorporate scumbling. This one I had to step out of my shell and learn this new technique. For the fifth canvas we were instructed to combine found materials and items to create represent our still life. For this I used crayons, scrapbooking paper, card stock, popsicle sticks, and thread. For the final canvas we has to only use a pallet knife to paint our still life. Overall this was a learn experiencing and I plan on taking all these techniques and furthering my painting career for the future.
