Activity 4-assignment 2

www.justfacts.com

Currency: The site seems to be very current. At the bottom of the page it has “Copyright 2016” which leads me to believe it is updated regularly. After skimming through the articles, I noticed most of them have been published within the last year.

Relevance: It seems anyone looking for statistical and factual information concerning current issues would benefit greatly from this site.

Authority: The “.com” at the end of the URL tells us that anyone could have produced this site. However, the layout and grammar looks very professional.

Accuracy: The site does have citations for their sources, which leads me to believe that it is an accurate site.

Purpose: I believe the purpose of this site is to inform the public on different social issues. The site tends to only provide statistics and facts on each subject; allowing the individual to come to their own conclusion on what they believe is right.

Currency: This site also seems very up to date. It has “Copyright 2016” at the bottom of the site and the articles listed on the main page are updated almost daily.

Relevance: I am not exactly sure this site looks completely reliable in terms of the information it is sharing. Depending on what you are researching, this site could be helpful, but not incredibly. The site conveniently has tags at the bottom of their articles making it easier to find this page when researching a topic. It can also tell you what the main focus of the article will be .

Authority: The “.org” at the end of the URL is similar to “.com” mentioned before. Just about anyone could have purchased and created this site, so the authority is not established as reliable just yet. It does say it is sponsored by the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania, which sounds more reliable. However, I am not familiar with the Annenberg center.

Accuracy: I could not find sources on this site, but after reading their privacy settings; it appears that the majority, if not all, of the articles are written by the sites employees.

Purpose: The purpose seems to be informing readers on current issues, more specifically with the presidential candidates. The articles also seemed to have the author’s personal bias within, offering a tad more than factual information concerning each topic. There are lots of advertisements on the site as well which leads me to believe the site is interested in earning revenue.
