Hannah Land Lail

Hello, my name is Hannah Land Lail, and I am currently studying to attain my Ph.D. in Chemistry with a concentration in Nutrition at Georgia State University. My research primarily focuses on identifying the underlying mechanisms of methionine restriction. In addition to this, I am a Brains and Behavior Fellow for the Neuroscience Institute, where my research focuses on nutrition’s impact on the brain and how it can be used to prevent chronic diseases. Through these experiences, I have learned so much about nutrition and how it influences our health, disease, and the world around us. My short-term goal includes successfully defending my dissertation and attaining my Ph.D. in Nutrition. Long-term, I plan to continue my work in the field of nutrition research as a health research specialist

Rowan Lawrence

My name is Rowan Lawrence, and I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience at Georgia State University’s Honors College. Following graduation, I plan to pursue a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Fun fact about me – I have lived in 4 states – Maine, Massachusetts, New York, and I moved to Georgia 5 years ago. Outside of school, I love to cook, hike, and travel.

Eshan Shah

My name is Eshan Shah, and I am pursuing a Neuroscience Degree at Georgia State University. After graduating, I plan to attend medical school and become a doctor. A fun fact about me is that I love playing soccer and have been playing since I was four years old. Some of my other hobbies include hiking, reading, and listening to music.

Filipe Pinheiro

My name is Filipe Pinheiro, and I am a research scholar at Georgia State University. I came all the way across the Atlantic Ocean from Portugal, where I graduated in Nutritional Sciences and am now pursuing a PhD in Metabolism at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto. With my research, I would like to contribute to a better understanding of the benefits of dietary methionine restriction and improve its practical applicability in real-life settings. Fun fact about me: This is my first time in the US. Therefore, in addition to my research work, I plan to visit the most iconic places in Atlanta and in the surrounding regions.

Judy Mahgoub

My name is Judy Mahgoub, and I am studying Nutrition Science at Georgia State University. After graduating, I plan on attending medical school and specializing in pediatrics. A fun fact about me is that I speak three languages- Arabic, French and English. Some of my hobbies include photography, reading, and playing volleyball.

Warda Elamad

Hello, my name is Warda, and I am a Ph.D. student studying Chemistry with a focus in Nutrition. My current research interests include exploring the mechanisms of antioxidants in mediating oxidative stress as well as neuroinflammation. In addition, my previous professional experience enhanced my interest in the role of nutrigenomics in chronic disease progression. Interfused with the journey to enhancing my own health and well-being, I’ve become impassioned with the field of nutrition research. My long-term goal with research is to significantly contribute to literature that emphasizes and solidifies the importance of nutrition therapy in the prevention and treatment of disease.

Daniel Kuklenyik

Hey, my name is Daniel Kuklenyik. I’m a Nutrition undergraduate in the Nutrition Science concentration. I joined this lab to learn the ropes, pursue a career in nutritional science research, and one day run a lab like this one myself. There is so much misinformation surrounding nutrition, and I want to be part of the work that helps get the truth out there. Outside the lab, I like games, cooking, movies, music, and working out. A fun fact about me is that I’ve been to three colleges and changed majors five times. Life’s not a race.
