For the Love of Darkness: Project 3, Professor Alembik

“For The Love Of Darkness”: Project 3, Professor Alembik (Painting/Wet media)

For this project we explored the rich diversity of blacks through different mediums including charcoal, Ink and acrylic paint. we also practices with different techniques with wet mediums There is an abundance of variation in black and the different atmospheres, moods and effects that can be made by using different temperatures of black and different techniques.

The things I enjoyed most about this project were using a traditional crow-quill pen and trying out different techniques with wet on wet media.  I really enjoyed working with the pen and I will be using one for future pen and ink projects.  I really love being exposed to other options for achieving black areas in artwork with ink.  I have never used India ink or explored anything outside of microns for ink work.  Loose ink opens up all kinds of possibilities for achieving depth and values without relying on pre made markers.  I also love the full range of value you can get with the liquid in and the acrylic.
