For my relief print I chose the mouth as a favorite body part. The words we use to describe places, people and things are astonishing. The various languages we speak and knowledge that transpires from our head and heart are verbally reflected through our mouth. I used some acrylic paint to help darken and add value to the background. Then used some red ink as a wash for the inside of the mouth and a dab of acrylic paint to help richen the color tone.
Great job. I love the harsh look of the red against the contour lines you did with acrylic. Every way the color fluctuates along the gums of the mouth makes it kind of look like a collage of sorts. This is excellent.
Nice job ! If I’m not mistaken, it looks like you used water color for this instead of acrylic paint. It looks better than I thought it would look. Really like the colors you chose ! Nicely done !
I love drawing mouths and yours is so full of character. Great job!
Such a wonderful mouth–not a big open wide laughing mouth, but a mouth that enjoys the humor it finds in everyday situations. Did you print it over the acrylic wash? It feels as if the wash is a part of the mouth. It reminds me of an artist whose work I adore named Trenton Doyle Hancock. I hope that you enjoyed the process!
The use of watercolors is masterful, abstract but compelling.
