Found Objects

For this project I wanted to focus on the delicacy of life. The pure unedited version of life and all the possibilities that come with it. This mini journey focuses on “acceptance” and taking things as they are.

-For the first found object I used a rose petal to symbolize the softness of life and the calmness of life and my aura. I used a watercolor background to reflect just going with the flow and not over analyzing anything.

-For the second found object I used a crystal I had that symbolizes beauty, but not outer appearance beauty. I wanted to focus on inner beauty and to capture that the crystal is reflecting light and its surrounding reflections therefore symbolizing the meaning of inner beauty being the dominant trait of happiness.

-For my third found object I used various rocks I have been collecting from my backyard and used a crystal kit to create a geode effect. I paired it with my rose quartz pendant that has a symbolic meaning of healing and health. The pink tones create a unified hue.

-For my fourth found object I used a dying pink tone rose and this opal necklace I have to symbolize the grace of wilting or in human terms “the elegance of longevity”. I wanted to depict old age being the new defined beauty and how just seeking happiness and truly seeing the color of life that is essentially health.

-For my fifth found object I wanted to show more depth of the grace of wilting or in human terms “the elegance of longevity” idea. I wanted to explore how slowly decaying does not mean dying or ultimately death, but in reality the shedding of toxic traits and bad habits. I placed a color flower in the back to bring a sense of new life and hope.

-For my sixth found object I explored darkness and used black fabric with this decorative skull I had lying around. I wanted to see if engulfing my found object around a darker hue, will bring a sense a light. Ethically testing the idea of “light at the end of the tunnel”. I wanted to explore light and how it colors alive when darkness is present.

-For my seventh found object I used a empty perfume bottle and a mini trinket along with this material I found to display the idea of wanting so many materialistic items and the hottest things, but essentially feeling and being empty inside.

  1. I love all your pictures!! I don’t know how to explain it but they’re memorizing to look at. If you have a social media page, you should post these as ~aesthetic~ pictures.
Without looking at your description, here are my interpretations:
1st pic: It seems to be a petal floating calmly on water. I think it represents tranquility/ calmness in your life.
2nd Pic: The world is reflected in the clear object, so maybe its about facing reality as it is?
3rd pic: Given the drawings you did for your dream, I’m assuming this is about connecting with your spiritual self and zen.
4th and 5th pic: The roses represent a person/beauty and the them seems to be that life/beauty doesn’t last forever. Since one of the roses are trapped by chains, maybe its telling the audience delaying your future is inevitable.
6th pic: A lightbulb is trapped in a dark space; So it represents hope/light in the dark.
7th pic: It gives me rich vibes, so by connecting it to the themes of the other pictures… I assume this one is about wealth not lasting forever, just like beauty and life.
