Clarkston Computing & Engineering Club

Interested in computing and engineering? The Clarkston Computing and Engineering Club is back this semester and we’re bringing you more events, news, and opportunities! Come to our kickoff event on February 14th at 4:00 pm in the STEM lab to play with Arduino and code. Students are encouraged to bring their laptops. There will be refreshments, and we are looking forward to seeing you there!

Scholarship Recipients

  • The Chevron scholarship is awarded to exceptional engineering majors with an intent to transfer to a four-year program through the Regents Engineering Pathway. Research Opportunities

Physics Summer Research at UMD (Deadline: February 10, 2023)

  • TREND is a 10-week undergrad summer research program in nonlinear dynamics at UMD College Park. Projects are computationalexperimentaltheoretical, or a combination of these. Topics include:2D materials | collective behavior | biophysics | chaos | lasers | neural networks | optoelectronics | particle physics/particle rings | photonics | plasma reconnection | quantum nanodevices | robotics | turbulence | weather prediction. Smart Computing & Communication REU at UMBC (Deadline: March 01, 2023)

  • The University of Maryland Baltimore County’s Mobile, Pervasive, and Sensor Computing Lab (MPSC Lab) hosts an immersive summer research program in smart computing and communications for promising undergraduate students across the country. Proposed projects will include a mix of theory and hands-on work and leverage enabling paradigms 
    (e.g., cloud computing, Internet-of-Things, high-speed wireless) to design, model, and implement novel techniques and solutions for smart computing and communication applications, encompassing algorithms for artificial intelligence, data mining, machine learning, edge analytics, signal processing, and big data. GSU REU – Smart and Autonomous IoT Systems (Deadline: March 13, 2023)

  • Are you looking for research to do over the summer? Check out GSU REU Smart and Autonomous IoT! An eight-week experience in the heart of Atlanta in which students work with faculty advisors, industry advisors, graduate student mentors, and other undergraduate students to complete a research project under the guidance of faculty and industry advisors.        The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Transfer Scholarship is a highly selective scholarship for the nation’s top community college students seeking to complete their bachelor’s degrees at selective four-year colleges or universities. The JKCF Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship awards up to $55,000 per year.
