Paige Malcolm – SkinCentric LLC

Paige Malcolm, a former Perimeter College Student won a GSU Mainstreet entrepreneur seed grant for her business SkinCentric LLC. Her company focuses on creating a device that allows you to easily store all your skincare products in one place while minimizing clutter. Paige attended Perimeter College in Spring of 2021 as a computer science major. She used the University’s resources such as Women in Technology (WIT), National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), and Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority (LSAMP) that helped her turn her dreams into a reality.

Arctic Summer Camp – Self-Driving Car Build Workshop

              Would you be interested in a summer activity to build a self-driving car? ARTIC Summer Camp @ GSU is holding a workshop to help students understand the basic knowledge of how to build a self-driving car along with the use of programming, control systems, robotics, etc. Cost to attend and build: $200. Limited funding is available.

Dates: July 17 – July 21, 2023, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

NSBE Scholarship – Spring Cycle – Deadline Cycle 2: June 30, 2023

        National Society of Black Engineers provides several scholarship opportunities for students. Sponsored scholarships include Barnes, Shevron, Ford Motor Company Fund, Honeywell IPP, John Deere Scholarship, and many more!  

BestCollege – Five $6,000 scholarships for Black women in STEM – Deadline: September 30, 2023, at 11:59 PM

      BestCollege is running a scholarship competition and will award five students with $6,000 pursuing a STEM-related field. Eligibility requirements include:

  • Individuals who are legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia.
  • You must intend to enroll or be enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited college or university in the United States for the 2023-24 academic year.
  • You must be at least 17 years old.
  • This scholarship is for individuals who identify as cisgender, transgender, or gender non-conforming Black woman, and who are pursuing a STEM-related field.

Interested students need to submit an original essay with a maximum of 500 words on why you are pursuing a STEM degree, or how you will impact the world through your contemplated STEM career.

Perimeter Alumni Spotlight

         Mr. Devesh Dalmia, a Computer Science student at Georgia Tech, recently published a book on how to navigate college. His book titled “The College Success Guide: Your Guide to navigating college, conquering obstacles, and Thriving” takes a deep dive into how to overcome challenges and how to make the most out of your time as a college student.
         Mr. Devesh was at Perimeter from 2017 – 2019 as an Engineering major and a R.E.P. student. Dr. Kim was his R.E.P. coordinator and Mr. Dalmia has taken courses with Drs. Gu, Kim, and Honkan. Mr. Dalmia was also part of a design team that placed first in the Memorial Day field of Flags Design Competition in Fall 2018.
