In English 3110, I had the pleasure of encountering Dr. Williams. She took my ideas of Technical Writing to new heights. When enrolled in this course, I learned how to apply rhetorical linguistics to problem solving. In one of our projects, I created the presentation below to address problems between the Human Development Index and Sanitation in South Africa.The link inside the presentation is a link to GAPMinder(an educational foundation that produces fact-based world views) showing the comparison between HDMI and Sanitation between 1990 and 2010. I found that there were consecutive correlations between the two categories. This project showed me the importance of rhetoric when thinking about plausible solutions to problems. In order to make changes and understand perspectives, we must analyze the long term effects of situations and assess the potential anomalies that may have affected the results produced.
