Before taking English 3130, I never imagined using rhetoric when applying to potential jobs. However, it is the main tool that opens the door for candidates to gain employment. In English 3130, I completed the following assignment, the “Job Search Project, where I had to find a company role that interested me and revise an original resume to directly align with the qualifications of the company I was aiming to be hired at. In doing so, I filled the revised resume with logos that fit more with the company’s idea of a successful employee. In addition, I used persuasive techniques such as change in audience, proximity, and design to appeal to the company’s and standards of employment.
