A new flute and piano piece “a woman holding a small god” was premiered by Philippe Delage and Daniel Solberg at River Center for the Performing Arts in Columbus, GA on Saturday April 4, 2015. The piece was well received. The work is in three movements: bird, jesus, and tiki. The music elaborates on three interpretations of the final line of a poem about a woman coaxing a sparrow into her hand to feed it. Various extended techniques on the flute are employed, including “beat boxing.”
