Every week I attend kickboxing classes at GSU’s rec center. The classes gives me a sense of empowerment, knowing I can not only defend myself. But I am also keeping my body both healthy and fit. For example, since I’ve been going to classes I drink a lot more water, make more health cautious food choices—such as salads, veggies, less starch etc.; and I also get a work out in at least 3 times a week. Outside of the classes. Attending classes has also been a self-esteem booster. If I feel like I am looking and feeling my best, than most likely I generally have a better week. Knowing I can get through anything I may face. I believe a “healthy lifestyle” first starts with self-motivation. Believe you can achieve your ultimate goal. But living a healthy lifestyle isn’t just about eating right or starting a new diet. A healthy lifestyle to me is having the strength and determination to seek as well as enforce change. That will be beneficial to your life as well as another. Not just through nutrition and exercise. But also through the way we think, act, and live as individuals. Positive thinking usually brings encouragement. Which helps in overcoming everyday challenges and help us make healthier choices in our lives. Making life a little easier to bare and live through.
