Altered book

Taking scenes from a book and creating a life size pop out. The purpose of this purpose of this project is to bring scenes to life.

I read the whole book, then took 2 scenes and brought them to life. I drew the scene where John Lewis was attacked for trying to enter a all white area as a protest. I also drew the scene where the freedom riders were attacked on the bus. After drawing all the important scenes from the book, I cut them out. I got some clear tape and covered them to give the pictures a 3D feeling. I cut out some scenes from the page then cover them up with tape to add context to the project. I organized all the scenes, then glued them to kabob stick. After that I placed the scenes on foam board thing. While recreating the scene of John Lewis being beaten for trying to enter an all white area. It made me feel bad because I knew he was fighting for African american rights like mines. l got my idea for the format of this project by reading comic books with the scene.
