General Description

One of the goals of the Center was to conduct research on the underlying cognitive and motivational factors that contribute to or impede reading growth in adults attending ABE programs (adults reading between the 3rd and 8th grade levels). Therefore, the first phase of the Center’s work focused on gathering information specifically targeting two areas: a) examining the quality of measurement instruments for this population and b) understanding the cognitive and motivational functioning of this sample of adult learners.
