Moving Collage 1 – Create a Composition using Line & Mark Making

Materials: 4 pieces of paper 12″ x 18″ (3 white, 1 black) sharpie pens (ultrafine, fine, king), white-out pen.

Step 1: Fill each paper with at least 150 marks using a different mark on each paper.

Step 2: Cut each piece of paper into 5 separate forms. using a variety of cuts.

Step 3: Arrange the cut pieces to create a variety of collages.

Moving Collage 2 – Create three compositions from magazine imagery.

Materials: Magazine Images, white paper 12 x 18 inches, rubber cement, scissors

Step 1: Find 7 magazine pages with images that interest you.
Step 2: Create a 6 x 8 rectangular grid on each magazine page/image and divide the grid into 2-inch squares. Cut out each square of the grid (12 squares total). Cut each square diagonally to form 2 triangles.
Step 3: Draw a 6” x 8” inch rectangle with 2-inch squares on three pieces of white paper. Create a composition on each paper using the triangular pieces and glue them to the paper.
