Materials: Sketchbook (9 x 12), sharpie markers (fine and ultrafine), black paper (12 x 18″), Exacto-knife

Step 1:

Create 4 designs in your sketchbook, for each of the following shape relationships: Interlocking, Enclosing, Interchanging and Interpenetrating.

For each type of drawing, execute 1 page which includes 2 final designs (4”x 4” squares), and
4 studies (2”x2” squares).

Step 2:
Select your 4 favorite figure/ground designs and execute them and their reversals on black paper for a total of 8 final pieces
