The topic I’ve chosen for this assignment is Deforestation and its causes and effects around the world. Deforestation is known as the act of stripping forested land of its resources often resulting in destroyed land. My topic encompasses influencers of deforestation such as industrialization or market gains, and also what happens because of it, such as habitat loss and climate change. One of the sources I plan to use comes from a journal from The University of Chicago Press and is titled “What Drives Deforestation and What Stops It” by Jonah Busch and Kalifi Ferretti-Gallon. Their journal in short introduces reasons for deforestation based on research they’ve conducted. They also include ways that can help prevent deforestation. Another source I planned to use comes from a PLos ONE  journal titled “Impacts of forestation and deforestation on local temperature across the globe” presented by Jayme A. Prevedello ,Gisele R. Winck,Marcelo M. Weber,Elizabeth Nichols, and Barry Sinervo. Their journal provides their research on world temperatures because of deforestation while also including equations to compare with. Their approach is more mathematical and provides a different view on the effects of Deforestation. A third source I plan to use comes from a journal found from Scientific Reports  titled “Deforestation and world population sustainability: a quantitative analysis” and presented by Mauro Bologna and Gerardo Aquino. This journal covers also takes a mathematical approach by setting up a proportion of deforested land to population. Lastly, this source is a journal coming from Barbara Ucelis Lyra and Daniel Rigo and is titled “Deforestation impact on discharge regime in the Doce River Basin”. This journal covers the affects of deforestation in the a wildlife environment, particularly the Doce River located in Brazil. This is one of many environments affected by deforestation and will be used as a source in my writing.
The ensure that I’m using proper MLA formatting and citations I plan on using the various sources provided to me. To make sure my pages are formatted correctly I will use Dr Fentems guidelines on what components go where, awswell as the MLA checklist. Next, in order to have correct citations, I will mainly use the PurdueOWL to ensure I’m citing material correctly. 

There are a few struggles that I have came across in preparing for this major assignment. Most notably would be the problem of paying attention to what I’m writing. When I say this, I’m referring to my very short attention span that causes me to doze off within 10 seconds of writing. This mainly occurs when I don’t have 100% clear idea of what I’m typing and happens most days out of the week. This causes me to lose valuable time and creates panic of having to rush along with work for other classes. Procrastination is a minor problem that comes up very rarely. I  usually tend to procrastinate after I get home from work, since at that time I’m more than likely mentally exhausted. This follows me going to through a period of scrolling social media and fixing a music queue then coming back to attention span issue when starting to actually work. Overall the 1000 word minium I feel is justified for this assignment. I don’t believe I will have much trouble writing it and I should be fine overall.
