Kris Graves’ work was amazing. I felt like he put his personality and perspective in his work. In multiple pictures he often photographed his sister. Also in that same series he also photographed himself. In that series he explained that he tried to allow his subjects to portray themselves how they would like to be portrayed. So he decided to allow them to pick the color effects, poses, and even their final shot from their photographs. I really enjoyed that series because I felt that it wasn’t controlled. Many people in the industry try to portray certain people in a certain light, which may not always be true. In the zoom call, he also stated that he was able to break tradition. By this I mean, he was allowed to put a brown face in a place where white faces were only shown. This was just encouraging for me to see a black person breaking tradition.
