Armor Project

Description: My armor project consists of four different parts. It consists of an earmuff ear protection piece, a mouth / tongue protection piece, a heart protection piece, and a set of binoculars. The earmuff protection piece is made of two Core water bottle tops for the ear coverings, a black headband for wearing purposes, gray duct tape and note card to make the spikes that were on the ear coverings, transparent tape and hot glue to keep everything together, and black and white spray paint as well as black acrylic paint  for decorative purposes. The mouth / tongue covering piece is made out of clay and decorated using black and white acrylic paint. Some methods  used while making this piece were scoring and slipping in order to attach the clay mouth piece which was a mold of teeth. The heart protection piece was made up of an old button up shirt that I shredded and sewed back together in a new fashion, an added clay button, of course white thread, and last but not least black and white spray paint as well as white acrylic paint. The final piece, the binoculars were made up of rigid wrap / plaster gauze, water, black and white acrylic paint, and blue plastic container lids all connected by hot glue.

Process: My process consisted of an original inspiration, hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil. Then I broadened its horizons by branching out the idea into my religion and bringing to light a big issue within humanity that needed to be addressed. That issue is people not seeing the world and everything in the world through love. So I then designed what I thought would be the perfect protection for all humanity, armor to protect them from evil, filter out negativity, and allow them to see the world in a whole new way. However I did not want to leave out the fact that we are talking about war here and that is why we need armor so although I was attacking an issue with positivity I wanted humanity to feel like a warrior when they wore my armor and to look like a warrior when then put it on so, I made all my pieces look very rigid and edgy.

Evaluation: While doing this project and sitting in class I learned how to mold and how to be patient. I also learned to be innovative which wasn’t hard since I have a creative mind. Being Innovative in itself though allowed me to be very open and allowed me to find creative solution throughout my process. I was able to achieve all my goals because everything I planned went exactly as I wanted it to and had the effect I intended it to. Something I learned from this project while studying and doing research is the Bible verses that helped my piece come to life and helped equip me with the armor I need to get through life.
