Armor Project: Ms. Hot Chilly

For this project i wanted to showcare the idea of Climate change and how its impacting the animals, their homes, and so on. I first need to come up with a social problem in the world that could have it own armor. My first thought was creating something could heal animals or fix their homes with some cool glasses that shoot hot or cold healer laser. For my first piece i wanted to make a head piece that represented nature in general because esentially everything is connected. So having that as the base/foundation was my plan. Therefore, i made a armor hat made out of a garden, this piece protects everything that tries to attack or detrail the animals and/or nature. Then for the body it is a light dress that can blind any of the enemies. With its blind diamonds melted throughout the dress it impossible for anything to go through it .

So I decided to take your guy’s advice and add more details to my hat. I wanted to show some details of underground soil, such as the white fertilizers, the roots, and the water the flows throughout the bottom of the ground.

Inside Outside: I’m Trapped

For this project the goal was to create something out of soap and try to transform the shape of it. We also needed to incorporate clay to it and make it cohesive in a way that enhanced it without taking over. This piece was very fun and unpredictable. I wasn’t sure what i wanted to create so instead i let soap and tools guide me. I slowly started cutting pieces and eventually led me to this. I also was not sure on how to use the clay to help it stand out, but the end i was very pleased with how it turned out. I did know i wanted to do something interesting with the holes, and love how it came out. The clay seems to be trapping something or someone and it gives me a feeling of suffocation. It remind me of several character in movies, where the villain just wants to rip the soul out of someone.

The cast shadows were fun to explore, with the many holes that were different sizes and shapes.

Creepy Crawly: The Camofly

For the Creepy Crawly project the goal was to create your own insect that was a combination of three other real life bugs. We then needed to incorporate some characteristic from each insect and make it part of our own insect. The three insects that i decided to combine was the caterpillar, the firefly, and the butterfly. Even though i hate bugs and was my first time working with wire, i absolutely loved making this piece. I will say it was difficult to work but once i got the hang of it it turned out just how i wanted it to. So i made my insect by incorporating the body of the caterpillar, the wings come from the butterfly and the twirled tail is the light from the firefly. My idea was to make the body heavy so that way it could stand on its own. So the made the base the most sturdy and made three connected pieces. For the ears i wanted to get them from the firefly and butterfly, they have those antenna type. Lastly the wings, i didnt want to make them basic per usual so i added some detail that gave it like a vibration feel. The swirl tail his how i see the energy of their light. It going in a looped direction.

8 ways of looking at a Piece of Paper: Light is Bright

For the 8 ways of looking at a piece of paper, the goal was to change the degree of the flatness of a paper and make it three-dimensional. We need to create 8 sculptures using only one paper to create something out of the norm. After creating these sculptures, we then needed to photograph them by playing with light and angles to see them completely transformed. I truly enjoyed this project. It was definitely one of my favorites, because of the photography aspect. Playing light and using a flash light to control the light was all very fun and interesting to me. It amazed me how much light was able to compliment these figures, with their cast shadows in the background and it creating a whole other story. For this first piece, I thought it would be cool to create something that is a light source. The idea of making something thats not naturally light was very fun for me to think about. So i decided to make a lighter with some cigarettes on the side. After having made the figures i knew the cast shadows would be fun to shoot. Overall, I would do it again.
For this piece i created a Lamp and a Chair. Once again, I wanted to create a source of light so that when it came to taking pictures they would have a story or more depth for the viewer.
