My name is Marisa Lynch. I chose to do this project because it is important for children to read at a young age. Reading allows a child to explore their imagination and be free in curiosity. Additionally, it allows cognitive development, comprehension and vocabulary, social skills, ability to focus, etc. I chose to donate books because it can assist children in low income areas and not able to purchase books. I also want more children and others to understand the significance and power of reading. I reached out to community workers to find local resources. I have found two book donations drop offs at both the Elementary and Primary school in my area. I have donated 13 children’s books.
My goal for this project is to encourage literacy and the importance of reading and to assist children’s families with low income. I also want more individuals to read and encourage others. My advice for someone who wants to participate in the project would be to include lively and interesting books to motivate children and to spread information for more people to want to donate as well. Others can donate children/young adult books. For example, Eric Carle books, Harry Potter series, Junie B. Jones, etc. and as provided below Nancy Drew series or Disney books.
