Though the blizzard of Hothlanta, 2014, may have cancelled our online session for Cool Tools, it in no way dampers our love for this collaboration tool that we feel is an essential part of any online learning experience. We not only promote Yammer’s use, but we also use it, so feel free to friend any of the Exchange staff on gsu.edu’s Yammer network.
Think of Yammer as Facebook for small, private groups. Features include a news feed and push notifications for smartphone apps as well as capabilities for polling, calendar creation, collaborative document editing, and much more.
You can access Yammer now through the Outlook Web App, available through gsu.edu.
With Yammer you can:
- Engage students remotely through push notifications on their smart phone
- Provide an interface that your students will be familiar with, as it looks and works very much like Facebook
- Poll your students, share files, create events and interact with your students more easily

With Evernote, you can type, create reminders, and access them anywhere. With Skitch, you can take notes directly on images or pdf files. With Penultimate, you can take notes as if you were using a pen and paper, store them, and then, thanks to the tool’s handwriting analysis capabilities, search the text of your notes. And, by leveraging the syncing capabilities of Evernote, you can view all of these products’ notes and annotations anywhere.
