Wow! This last Friday’s Makerspace was a great time of exploring data, discussing the potential opportunity in creating a Tableau user group, as well as laughter, coffee, and gogurt! Where the mini maker project helped a few attendees that were not currently Tableau users, many of our participants brought data and Tableau files that they were currently working on to discuss ways to solve their problems. Everyone was in agreement that Tableau helps them deal with data that simplifies their analysis, allows them to quickly convince people through data, and has changed the way that they work on a daily basis.

Pat Deloney, a Lead Data Administrator from Decision Support Services, was also in attendance with the goal of discussing the possibilities of starting a Tableau User Group at Georgia State. We’ll be looking at ways for the Exchange to help make this happen, and look forward to working with Tableau users across campus to provide more ways to access the resources at the university that could help them in their work.

For me personally, this felt like what we at the Exchange have intended all along with our Makerspace gatherings – an open amount of time where creators can get together to develop a project and the skills to accomplish that project in the company of others who are moving along similar paths. If you would like to come be a part of this, please join us this coming Friday, or any Friday this semester as we work together at our Instructor Makerspaces. Check technology.gsu.edu/training for the most up to date schedule of events. We look forward to working with you in the Exchange!
