I decided for my self portrait to embrace my love of clowns and create an image of me as one. I went to a local bookstore in Atlanta and found old magazines and newspapers that had colors, images and information I related to and collaged them into a piece where a leftist feminist magazine is my face, stained glass is my nose and my my cheeks are made from pink images. I used various images of texture to create the background as it reflects how I look at art and patterns. My hair plus some of the background is made from green soda bottles to show the common color green that I not only wear but dye portions of my hair. I made a clowns ruff using gift tissue paper left over from Christmas.
