Compassion Project

Title: Body Positivity

Medium: Magazine cut-outs, Printed pictures, Scrapbook papers, X-Acto, Black marker, Digitally added words.

This project is about compassion. Compassion is defined as the feeling that arises when you are confronted with another’s suffering and feel motivated to relieve that suffering. For my compassion, I wanted to show my support for body positivity. I created this project about body positivity specifically for people who are insecure about their body, and also for people who might be bullied from the past because of their appearance. Throughout the process of doing this compassion poster, I found out that a lot of people are insecure about their body because we live in a world where there are specific beauty standards on social media that is normally unrealistic for people in general. I started this project by gathering some magazines and looking for the picture and words that is related to body positivity, then I cut it out and combine it into an art piece. After I am done combining the words and pictures, I added the words digitally. The two pictures on the bottom were taken before I added the words digitally and the top two pictures were taken after I added the words. The message I am trying to tell to the audience is that it is okay to be yourself and do not let others define you because you are perfect just the way you are.
