Wooly Mammoths: The Ethics of De-Extinction
Topic and Thesis: “What if we brought back the woolly mammoth, one of history’s most iconic creatures, an animal that once knew Earth as a harsh, unforgiving ice-world?”
Outline of Argument: “In this essay, I will build a case for why Church’s de-extinction of the woolly mammoth is unethical and shouldn’t be practiced in the future.”
Evidence of Supporting Claims:
“The first ethical argument against de-extinction is that an animal resurrected by humans would be void of any intrinsic, natural value.”
“The second scholarly argument that suggests Church’s mammoth project might be unethical is the charge of hubris.”
Fist Impression: I was challenged as a reader because this essay wasn’t that interesting to me, but it is still insight to know people once cared about Mammoths.
