Expressing Antonyms

The purpose of this assignment is to express one’s emotions/feelings regarding the words chosen and its antonym.

This is my final piece of forgive and blame thumbnail.

Medium: Black Paper, 4 in. of Bristol paper

For this assignment I had to draw three thumbnail sketches of three antonyms and out of three I had to choose one to present in class.

The 3 pairs I sketched out first was forgive/blame, cruel/kind and genuine/fake. For the forgive and blame I first did flames and arrows, however it did not fit with the concept, so I tried again and thought of flowers for forgive and curved downward arrows for blame. For cruel and kind, I drew a hand with strings that involved puppet and for kind, I drew a hand with lines reaching out to serve as someone who helps people. For genuine and fake, I did more of a symbolic picture of a person smiling and the other one angry with fierce diagonal lines. The last pair, genuine and fake, I was thinking of ying and yang, however it was more complicated as for me it needed more character. In the end I chose to go for the forgive and blame sketch.
